Quick Tips for a Successful 2016

2016 is in full swing, and it is time to start implementing those plans you worked on ever so vigorously last quarter. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

1. Communicate

Keep everyone involved! Make sure everyone knows exactly what the strategy and goals are and why you are implementing them. You should discuss not only the “why” you are implementing a new strategy but the “how” it will be executed, and finally, “what” are the intended benefits. Without good communications across your entire team, it is difficult (should we say impossible?) to stay on track.

Fact:Most people need to hear something 12 times before it sinks in.

2. Commit

Starting at the top, Leadership sets the example. Remaining committed about your plans and driving execution with the team will bring rewards.  To keep distractions at bay, hold yourself and your team accountable using reporting and check-ins. Always make sure your expectations are clear and actionable.

*Fact:Surveys show that entrepreneurs with written business plans have 50% greater sales and 12% higher profit.

3. Be Willing and Able

This one is a little more elusive than most would think. Executing plans will likely cause change. Make sure that you have the necessary resources and that everyone is on board for these changes. This involves everything from company culture to prioritization…and more. Stay vigilant with the team.

*Fact: 95% of a typical workforce doesn’t understand their organization’s strategy/plan.

4. Check and Adjust

As far as we can tell, no one is perfect! Having quarterly check-ins will allow you to see what’s working and what might need tweaking. Make sure your Dashboard (you do have one, right?) has the correct metrics to track your progress so it is easily understood and actionable.

Fact: A good business plan is never done! Those quarterly check-ins are imperative for keeping your plan current.

Now is the time to put your plan into action.  Make sure: your plan is communicated. You’re committed to the plan. Your company is willing and able to execute. We will leave you with this… remember that the plan is a living document – read it early and often!

We wish you a most successful year!
